Attendance

Consistent school attendance is associated with stronger academic outcomes, social-emotional development, and keeping students on track for high school graduation.

Attendance is also directly tied to school funding, as Texas is one of only a few states that ties school resources to daily attendance, not enrollment.

Attendance is measured by chronic absence rates (when a student misses 10% or more of the school year regardless of the reason) and average absence rates.
